Double Glazed Sliding Windows — The Workhorse Of The Range

A sliding window is the most versatile window we sell. Two panels glide horizontally, so you get a wide opening for airflow without losing wall space to a swinging sash, and without a casement leaf swinging into your space or your neighbour's.

Our double glazed sliding windows use a 100mm thermally broken aluminium frame with stainless steel mesh flyscreens fitted as standard. Twenty sizes are in stock right now, which covers most Australian standard openings — meaning most of our customers collect the same day they order.

The 100mm frame is thermally broken, so heat is stopped at the frame itself rather than bridging through the aluminium. That is where a lot of a window's real-world performance is decided.

Practical answers about sizing, screens and performance.

Measure the opening, not the old window. You need the structural opening width and height — the rough hole in the wall — plus about 10mm clearance on each side for the frame and packing. If you send us those two numbers we will tell you which of our in-stock sizes fits, and flag it if none of them do.

Yes. The double glazed sliding window range comes with stainless steel mesh flyscreens included as standard. The mesh is fixed to the frame rather than sitting in a loose track, which is why it does not sag or get blown out of position.

Yes. Our Low-E and argon range in Monument colour is built on the sliding window frame and includes stainless steel mesh. See the price list on this page for the available sizes.

100mm is the better choice where the opening allows it, because the deeper thermally broken frame performs better and leaves more room for the cavity. The 55mm frame is a useful option for tighter openings and tighter budgets, and is the size we hold in the greatest volume.

Sliding windows have a larger glass area with fewer meeting stiles than a casement, so if security is a priority, an awning window is the stronger choice — it has a much smaller opening. Where a sliding window is specified, we supply a quality roller and a locking stile as standard.
